Spring has sprung in Minneapolis! The beautiful weather has us Minnesotans in a good mood. It’s so fun watching everyone come out of hibernation. I see cocktails on patios, burgers on grills, bicycles and bikinis. I’m so grateful to live in a city where I experience the ebb and flow of every season.
Life has been very exciting lately! In the last month, I got the work-from-home schedule I wanted, purchased a (beautiful) new car, graduated from B-School and landed an amazing client. I am beyond happy with the amazing world I’m creating for myself.
Want to know my secret? I choose to feel good. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to reach for good feelings…at all times. Humans are intrinsically healthy, happy and thriving. You resist your natural state of well-being and abundance when you let bad feelings take over. Just as soon as you notice yourself moving away from good feelings…pull yourself back.
And no, it’s not, “easy for me to say.” We live on the same planet with the same temptations, challenges and distractions. I’ve worked extremely hard to get here. I’ve been making a conscious effort (every moment) to police my thoughts and emotions. Consider me the Jillian Michaels of feeling. Every day I bust my booty to shed the negative baggage that makes me look and feel terrible. You, too can take back control of your life by making the decision to…feel good.
If you’re facing an obstacle, simply reach for the next best feeling. Even if you move from grief to anger, anger to sadness, sadness to boredom, and boredom to positive expectation…you’re moving in the right direction. Check out the Emotional Guidance Scale to learn more.
Know your pleasure points. Whether that’s a hot cup of coffee, a run around the lake, a Harry Potter movie or a quality chat with your mom, use them to pull you out of your negative slump.
The more you feel good….the more you feel good. You are a living and breathing magnet. When you’re soaking in good vibes, you’ll continue to attract people, places and things with the same energy. You can’t help but magnetize situations vibrating at your same frequency.
Your greatest tool? Imagination! It’s sad how people stop playing ‘make believe’ once they ‘mature’. Your imagination is a powerful potion for feeling good. Focus your thoughts on happy times, dream vacations and people you love. You can either tune your inner radio to KDW Negative or Positive FM. I think it’s more grown up to focus on what feels good than ruminate over the skeletons in your closet.
Let’s take action! Close your eyes and evaluate how you feel. Where’s your energy at? What have you been focusing on? Notice your emotional state of being. Start to shift your awareness to a beautiful memory, child you adore or amazing meal. Watch your feelings shift. See how easy that was? This trick is available to you at any time.
Remember: just like any part of your body, it takes practice and diligence to strengthen your ‘feel good muscles’. Stay the course. There’s no time like the present to create a life you love!
