I’m going through another breakup. Lucky me. It wasn’t my choice. Rather, it needed to happen. I’m chalking it up to the good ol’ Universe’s brilliant, master plan for a life more amazing than I can possibly even imagine right now.
When tough stuff comes up, you really only have 2 choices:
Play the blame game. Become a victim. Complain about how hard your life is while constantly asking, “Why meeeeeeeee?!”
Feel how you feel. Come to accept the situation. Find the teaching. Search for the silver lining and eventually say, “That’s why.”
I’ve played both roles in my 25 years. But I can confidently tell you the latter is always the better option.
So although Thanksgiving break was challenging, I remained grateful and grounded knowing this is an opportunity to grow into an even better version of myself. That’s not to say I didn’t ride the wave of feeling sad, mad and confused. But I did make the conscious choice to trust my path and hunt for a deeper meaning.
Look. I’m still figuring out my personal ‘why.’ And don’t worry. I’ll keep you posted as I get to the bottom of it. But deep down, I believe everything happens for a reason. Yes, this is about as cliche as it gets. I don’t care though. Cliches are usually true.
Lately I’m telling myself, “It’s all for something.”
I encourage you to tell yourself the same thing. The Universe doesn’t make mistakes. Trust that what you’re going through is happening for a good reason. Perhaps you’re not exactly sure what that is right now.
But stay the course. Get curious and even a little excited. Maybe you’ll help someone in the same situation one day. Could you be dodging a bullet? Is there a chance it could be worse?
Pause the narrative. The stories in your head are exactly that…stories. Step outside of your emotions and consider the bigger picture.
I like to believe what author Gabrielle Bernstein says, “The Universe has your back.” It does. You are taken care of. No one has forgotten about you. I know you got this and you’re going to come out so much better on the other side.
Look for the lesson. Be thankful for what you have. Focus on the positives.
Remember: You get to choose your thoughts. And that is an amazing super power.
So maybe I’m lucky after all…
PS. Loving this song.
PSS. Let’s workout! I’m teaching Prime (a yoga, fitness combo class) at DharmaCycle every Tuesday morning at 6am. It’s the best way to start your day! I’ll keep you posted as I add more classes to my schedule.
PSSS. You should actually just go to DharmaCycle anyway. It’s top notch quality and Jackie Gladney (the owner) is one of the most amazing human beings you’ll ever meet!
